Atuel: A Documentary Game Experience
Atuel immerses players in the stunning yet climate-change-affected Atuel River Valley in Argentina. The gameplay is less about traditional challenges and more about experiencing the ecosystem through shapeshifting. Players transform into various animals and elements, becoming one with the landscape—one moment soaring as a bird, the next flowing as the river itself.
The game integrates real-life interviews with historians, biologists, geologists, and local residents, providing insightful perspectives on the region's history, current state, and future under the shadow of climate change. Matajuegos collaborated with The 12.01 Project, an international documentary team, to bring these narratives to life.
The game's visuals are truly captivating, drawing inspiration from the Cuyo desert to create an almost otherworldly atmosphere.
While Android pre-registration isn't yet live, you can find more information on the Steam page or the official website. The mobile version will feature seven new languages and full controller support.
