Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has made the tough decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. This version of the game, which hit the mobile scene over a decade ago, is now set to close its digital doors.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued. If you're among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final date on May 30th.

The community has voiced their disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to completely shut down the game, rather than offering an offline version. Many believe an offline option would have kept the spirit of PAC-MAN alive while still generating some revenue for the company.

PAC-MAN Mobile, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode packed with original mazes, an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events for exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. The game also allowed for a range of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more, enhancing the personal touch players could bring to their gaming experience.

The Reason

The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile seems to stem from the accumulation of bugs and issues over the years, which have significantly impacted gameplay. The game's early days on Android were filled with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, a time fondly remembered by many.

If you're keen to take one last spin with PAC-MAN Mobile before it disappears, you can still download it from the Google Play Store.
