Bandai Namco is taking another exciting step to bring the beloved Digimon universe to mobile platforms with the upcoming release of Digimon Alysion, a digital adaptation of the Digimon Card Game. Set to launch on Android and iOS as a free-to-play game, fans eagerly await further details, although an exact release date has yet to be announced.
The game was officially unveiled at Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th, where Bandai Namco also shared other exciting updates, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc in April 2025. In addition, they celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and introduced a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond, along with a forthcoming RPG for consoles and PC titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
Digimon Alysion: A New Twist on the Card Game
Unlike a direct port of the physical Digimon Card Game, Digimon Alysion introduces a novel element called 'DigiAly' cards, which will be unique to this digital version. Alongside these new cards, Bandai Namco is adding fresh Digimon and characters to the mix. The game's character roster, predominantly featuring an all-female cast, marks a unique direction for a digital card game, sparking both curiosity and skepticism among fans, particularly those who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn't Bandai Namco's first venture into Digimon mobile gaming; however, their previous attempts have not been successful. With two failed tries behind them, there's a cautious optimism surrounding Digimon Alysion's potential success. Despite this, I'm eagerly anticipating its release. A closed beta test is planned, though details remain undisclosed. For the latest updates, you can visit their official website or follow their X account.
