Bezos' James Bond Poll: Fans Speak Out

Amazon's acquisition of James Bond creative control has ignited a firestorm of speculation about the next 007. Jeff Bezos' X/Twitter poll revealed a clear frontrunner: Henry Cavill. While contenders like Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are in the mix, Cavill's popularity is undeniable.

Cavill's surge in popularity following Bezos' tweet is significant, fueled by fervent Bond fans advocating for the Superman and Witcher star to succeed Daniel Craig. His involvement in Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 project fuels speculation about a potential Bond role.

Interestingly, Cavill previously auditioned for Casino Royale (2006), an audition director Martin Campbell described as "tremendous." However, at 23, he was deemed too young. Campbell later clarified to The Express that Cavill's audition was excellent, but Craig was ultimately chosen. Cavill himself acknowledged in an interview with Josh Horowitz that he likely wasn't ready at the time and praised Craig's performance.

With Daniel Craig's departure after No Time to Die, the search for his successor intensified. Campbell noted that Bond actors often commit to three films, a timeframe that would place Cavill (currently 40) at a suitable age. While previously considered too young, his current age and established career make him a strong contender.
