The latest update for Black Myth: Wukong delivers substantial performance gains, but prepare for a massive 93.3GB download.
On PS5, you'll need sufficient free space to install this large update. However, the installation process rewrites the game files, potentially leaving you with the same or even reduced overall storage usage compared to before. Therefore, if you're short on space, consider uninstalling the game completely and redownloading it rather than applying the update over your existing install.
For the PS5 version, patch 1.0.20.21756 enhances loading speeds, sharpens specific textures, boosts CPU and rendering performance across various situations, optimizes memory usage, and refines motion blur quality to reduce aliasing during camera movement.
The PC update introduces native support for AMD FSR 4, improves Compatible Mode, and offers a "significant" lighting quality upgrade when Global Illumination is set to Low, bringing it closer to the High setting's visual impact.
In a brief social media summary—and a more detailed post on developer Game Science's official site—the studio noted that, alongside typical bug fixes, the "significant number of under-the-hood changes" made to enhance performance could affect not only PS5 storage but also PC mods, potentially "causing compatibility problems" and "preventing the game from launching or triggering error pop-ups during play." As a result, the developers recommend removing all mods and verifying your game files before restarting the game after installing the latest patch.
The update is available across all platforms starting today (October 13). Below are the complete patch notes.

Pre-Installation Information
Because of the platform's update system, your computer must have a certain amount of free disk space available (not necessarily on the same drive for Steam users) to temporarily store the update files. (PC)
If you have any mods installed, applying this patch could lead to compatibility issues, potentially preventing the game from launching, loading saved games, or causing in-game errors. We advise uninstalling all mods and verifying your game files before restarting. (PC)The current performance optimization involves many foundational changes, resulting in a larger-than-usual patch size. If the update fails due to insufficient storage or other problems, please try reinstalling the game. (PS5)If you notice an unusually large update file size during installation, or if the game freezes, crashes, or fails to start afterward, consult the Installation/Patch FAQ on our official website. This update may require shader recompilation. If the game crashes during this process, try restarting it until compilation finishes or choose to skip shader compilation.
