"Bloodborne Fans Excited for The Duskbloods on Nintendo Switch 2"

One of the most surprising announcements from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct was the reveal of a new third-party game. Near the end of the showcase, FromSoftware unveiled their latest project, "The Duskbloods," which bears striking similarities to the cherished PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne.
To clarify, The Duskbloods is a brand-new game slated for a worldwide release in 2026, and it will be exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch 2. In this title, players assume the role of the "Bloodsworn," a group that has transcended humanity through the use of special blood. The gameplay involves engaging in a fierce melee to earn the title of "First Blood."
A press release from FromSoftware confirmed that The Duskbloods is a PvPvE title, with "online multiplayer at its core," allowing up to eight players to compete for victory. While the game's themes of blood, firearms, and machinery evoke memories of Bloodborne, it also shares elements with the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign, though with an emphasis on PvP rather than just co-op PvE.
The announcement was accompanied by cryptic teases and glimpses of terrifying beasts and bosses. Bloodborne fans have responded with a wide range of reactions.
"BLOOD! EVERY FIVE SECONDS THEY TALKED ABOUT BLOOD!" exclaimed one commenter on the r/Bloodborne subreddit. Another fan speculated, "That game is 100% Bloodborne 2. I assume the name change is either because it's in a different setting, or because of Sony exclusivity."

Although The Duskbloods is a distinct game, it's clear to see why fans would consider it a spiritual successor to Bloodborne. While the Souls series and Elden Ring have been released on multiple platforms—with Elden Ring even receiving a Tarnished Edition for the Switch 2—Bloodborne has remained a PlayStation 4 exclusive, never making the jump to PC. Fans have been eagerly awaiting any kind of continuation or port for years.
"Nintendo really got tired of waiting for Bloodborne 2 and just decided to fund it themselves," one commenter remarked. Another noted the exclusivity, saying, "Bloodborne was always an exclusive, this is on brand."
The announcement has certainly sparked excitement among Bloodborne enthusiasts, but there's a growing realization that The Duskbloods might lean more toward a battle royale-style game rather than the traditional single-player RPG expected from FromSoftware.
Some fans have expressed reduced enthusiasm upon learning that The Duskbloods focuses on PvPvE. Discussions have emerged where fans, disappointed by the multiplayer emphasis and the Switch 2 exclusivity, are reconsidering their interest in the game.
More details about The Duskbloods are expected soon, as Nintendo will feature an interview with director Hidetaka Miyazaki on its website on April 4. This should provide further insight into the game's mechanics, its PvPvE elements, and whether it can satisfy the long-held hopes of Bloodborne fans.
