Release Date Pushed Forward to September 12
Following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford surprised fans by revealing Borderlands 4 would launch two weeks earlier on September 12. Though initially removed, Pitchford confirmed the earlier release was genuine, citing the project's exceptional development progress.
The game was originally slated for September 23 as announced during February's State of Play. Borderlands 4's official Twitter account later confirmed the accelerated timeline, stating: "After extensive evaluation–including countless meetings, playtests, and outstanding development progress–we're thrilled to move Borderlands 4's launch to SEPTEMBER 12."

Gearbox vows this will be the ultimate Borderlands experience. With the earlier launch, players can begin their chaotic adventures on the new planet Kairos sooner than anticipated.
