This bouquet is part of LEGO's Botanical Collection, launched in 2021 as part of their lifestyle rebranding. LEGO has cleverly adapted its sets for adult fans, integrating them seamlessly into modern living spaces.
The set, comprised of six bags (plus a seventh bag of stems), offers a satisfying build experience. There are no stickers, only beautifully rendered pieces, and clear instructions are included. Digital instructions are also available, offering rotating views and zoom capabilities, making the build accessible to all skill levels.
Each bag focuses on a different flower type: daisies, cornflowers, eucalyptus, elderflowers, roses, ranunculus, cymbidium orchids, a waterlily dahlia, and a campanula. The instruction booklet includes charming descriptions of each flower in English, French, and Spanish, adding an educational element to the build. For example, did you know that Cymbidium orchids have been cultivated since around 500 BCE?
The waterlily dahlia is described as "Symbols of elegance and grace, the decorative waterlily dahlia blossoms unfold like a luxurious firework display."
Unlike traditional LEGO builds, this bouquet relies heavily on hinges, creating a delicate and realistic flower effect. The build requires careful attention to petal orientation and spacing; slight errors can cascade, necessitating backtracking. This adds a unique challenge and rewarding sense of accomplishment.
Unlike typical LEGO sets with foundational structures, this bouquet is purely aesthetic. Its fragility underscores its purpose: admiration, not play. This unconventional approach yields breathtaking beauty.
The LEGO Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet (Set #10342), with its 749 pieces, is a testament to LEGO's innovative design. Its impracticality is precisely its charm, offering a stunning and unique Valentine's Day gift.
LEGO Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet, Set #10342, retails for $59.99 and is available at Amazon and the LEGO Store.
