Niantic is retiring the Sunkissed Shores event in Pokémon GO on August 25th. It begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes on August 31st, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. The highlight of this week-long event is the debut of Dondozo, the massive Catfish Pokémon from Paldea.
Dondozo is making its first appearance in the mobile game!
Dondozo is a colossal water-type Pokémon. Its upper body is light blue, the middle is dark blue, and its upper lip, belly, and fins are white. It follows Tatsugiri, has a voracious appetite, is weak to Grass and Electric moves, and does not evolve.
During the Sunkissed Shores event, you can encounter Dondozo in both wild encounters and three-star raids. As you battle through raids, you’ll also earn a 2× XP bonus for victories.
Wild encounters during the event feature a beach-themed lineup. Pokémon like Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, Tepig, Helioptile, Bounsweet, Sandygast, and Lechonk will appear more frequently.
Oricorio also plays a major role. Baile Style Oricorio will appear in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Pom-Pom Style Oricorio dominates the Americas. Pa’u Style Oricorio spawns across African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands. Sensu Style Oricorio can be found in the Asia-Pacific region.
In raids, you’ll also encounter region-exclusive Tatsugiri forms. The Curly Form is available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The Droopy Form appears in the Americas, and the Stretchy Form is found in the Asia-Pacific region. Three-star raids feature Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and the newly added Dondozo.
The Sunkissed Shores event directly follows the Dark Skies event in Pokémon GO. From August 18th to August 23rd, that event centered on Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles. So yes, the coming weeks are packed with exciting content—make sure you’ve downloaded the game from the Google Play Store if you haven’t already.
