CD Projekt Red reveals Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 requires 64GB of storage—significantly smaller than Xbox/PS5 versions (100-110GB) yet occupying 25% of Switch 2's 256GB internal capacity.
Scheduled for simultaneous release with Switch 2 on June 5, Cyberpunk 2077 will launch via physical 64GB game cartridges or digital download on Nintendo eShop.
While Nintendo confirmed some Switch 2 game cards will serve as download keys rather than containing full titles, Cyberpunk 2077 remains a complete physical edition.
This raises important questions: How rapidly will Switch 2 owners exhaust the console's storage space?
Switch 2's 256GB internal storage marks a substantial upgrade from its predecessor's 32GB, but next-gen game sizes suggest this may prove limiting.
Cyberpunk 2077's 64GB footprint dwarfs the original Switch's largest titles—like Tears of the Kingdom's 16GB—with anticipated Switch 2 exclusives like Mario Kart World expected to demand even more space.
The solution? Expandable storage. Unlike PS5/Xbox platforms—or even Switch's microSD compatibility—Switch 2 exclusively supports microSD Express cards, rendering existing storage solutions obsolete and requiring premium-priced replacements.

Switch 2 CompatibleIGN's deals team has identified optimal pricing for Switch 2-compatible microSD Express cards—SanDisk and Lexar offerings ranging from 128GB ($44.99) to 1TB ($199.99)—though high demand has triggered temporary Amazon shortages.
While Nintendo collaborates with SanDisk/Samsung for proprietary memory cards—historically priced above third-party equivalents—microSD Express market competition may emerge as Switch 2 adoption grows, potentially affecting future pricing.
