For fans of the long-running franchise Digimon, the upcoming Digimon Con 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting event. Attendees can anticipate a plethora of new announcements and updates about forthcoming projects within the franchise, but it's one particular teaser that has truly piqued our interest: a visual featuring a bewildered Renamon alongside a mobile phone.
The obvious takeaway here is that this could be a hint toward a digital version of the Digimon Trading Card Game (TCG). Bandai Namco already offers a tutorial app for iOS and Android, a common practice for many of their physical trading card games. However, given the recent launch of Pokémon TCG Pocket, it's not far-fetched to speculate that Digimon might be gearing up to unveil a similar mobile-based TCG platform.
It's wise to temper our excitement a bit, though. The teaser might simply suggest that mobile devices will be a way to watch the upcoming livestream later this week, rather than indicating a new project specifically designed for mobile platforms.

Going Digital
Digimon, while beloved, often finds itself in the shadow of the more globally dominant Pokémon franchise. Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, there was a notable rivalry between the two, but Pokémon has since claimed the throne of global pop culture. That said, Digimon remains a cherished choice among nostalgic anime fans.
Launching a digital TCG wouldn't be a guaranteed success like it might be for Pokémon. However, it's not a high-risk move either, considering the existing popularity of the Digimon TCG. Making it more accessible to a broader audience could be a significant advantage. We'll have to tune into the upcoming Digimon Con livestream later this month to find out more.
