Kemco's new visual novel, Together We Live, offers a poignant post-apocalyptic tale exploring themes of human sin and redemption, now available exclusively on Android (following its Steam release).
The story follows Kyoya, who awakens in a dimly lit room in the year 4000, nearly two millennia from his last memory. He finds himself in a desolate world, guided by a mysterious girl burdened with a heavy task: she endlessly repeats a cycle of death and rebirth, atoning for humanity's past transgressions. This relentless cycle, repeated countless times, forms the emotional core of the narrative, prompting Kyoya to introduce her to the concept of happiness.
The narrative unfolds at a deliberate pace, initially slow-burning. However, this measured approach allows for impactful plot twists and reveals, where seemingly minor details gain significant meaning later in the story.
Unlike many visual novels, Together We Live eschews branching narratives, presenting a linear, interactive story. Its simple yet appealing art style complements the emotional depth of the narrative, creating a powerful blend of beauty and sorrow. The girl's fully voiced performance enhances the haunting atmosphere. Currently available in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese, the game lacks controller support. It's priced at $9.99 on the Google Play Store, but is free for Google Play Pass subscribers.
