Next month, 22 titles will exit the PlayStation Plus game library. Notable departures include Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final accessible versions of first-party classics Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is the online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering members monthly free games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and special discounts. It also provides a library of hundreds of modern and legacy games for Extra and Premium tier subscribers.
As highlighted by Push Square, this wave of 22 removals scheduled for May 20 notably features two major first-party Sony PS3 titles, both set to leave the PS Plus Premium catalog.

This departure is significant because Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. For most players, the PS Plus Premium streaming service is now the only way to access them, barring ownership of the original discs and a functional PS3. Both games are being removed less than a year after joining the catalog in late 2024.
The Resistance franchise is a series of alternate-history first-person shooters developed by Insomniac Games after their work on Ratchet & Clank. Three mainline Resistance games launched on PS3 before the studio shifted focus to projects like Marvel's Spider-Man and new Ratchet & Clank titles.
While it's rare for Sony to pull its own first-party games from the service, it has happened before. A notable example is the surprising removal of both Horizon titles — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those games remained purchasable after their removal. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will effectively vanish for play on modern consoles.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will stay available on PS Plus. It's also worth noting the removal of the more recent first-party PS4 title, inFamous: Second Son.
The Resistance series has been inactive for years. In February, Insomniac's founder and former president, Ted Price, shared that there was a serious internal effort to develop Resistance 4, but the project never received final approval. Much like Guerrilla Games' Killzone series, the Resistance franchise has been sidelined.
