Following closely after a major partnership, the leading sports simulator eFootball has revealed the second volume of its collaboration with the acclaimed manga Captain Tsubasa. This new phase introduces a wide array of themed rewards inspired by the legendary sports manga.
We've previously covered the background of Captain Tsubasa, but to reiterate: it is a long-standing multimedia franchise that began as a manga by Yoichi Takahashi. The story follows Tsubasa Oozora's journey from a young football enthusiast to an international professional player.
This update enriches the collaboration with new login bonuses, featuring exclusive cards illustrated by Takahashi that spotlight stars like Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi. Additionally, players can obtain special crossover cards that merge series characters with football legends, such as Michel Platini x Elle Sid Pierre and Diego Forlán x Ramon Victorino.
Expanding Football HorizonsIt's no exaggeration to say that Captain Tsubasa stands as a manga icon, alongside globally recognized series like Dragon Ball and One Piece. Many credit it with sparking the modern popularity of sports manga, inspiring successors such as Blue Lock—which has also partnered with mobile games multiple times. Even those less familiar with the series can appreciate its influential legacy.
Beyond the collaboration, eFootball has also kicked off in-game qualifiers for the eFootball Championship 2025 Open. The first round continues until February 6, with winners earning a spot to compete for the World Champion title in the Open tournament.
