Elden Ring Fan Locks Swords in Daily Battle for Nightreign

An Elden Ring player, chickensandwich420, has undertaken a unique challenge: defeating the notoriously difficult boss, Messmer the Impaler, every day until the release of the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign.

This self-imposed marathon began on December 16, 2024, and involves using a different weapon each time while maintaining a perfect no-hit run on NG+7. The player, a university senior, chose Messmer due to his manageable time commitment compared to other FromSoftware boss grinds.

Messmer's difficulty is well-documented, with players reporting hundreds of attempts needed for victory. Chickensandwich420's challenge is therefore a significant undertaking.

However, the challenge has a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, chickensandwich420 will shift focus to other games. This sets a limit of roughly 160 Messmer battles. As of this writing, he's on day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone three-player co-op title set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his Messmer marathon before Nightreign's release remains to be seen.
