FromSoftware Ends Elden Ring Server Maintenance
Nov 30,2025Author: Joshua
FromSoftware has completed a server maintenance update for Elden Ring: Nightreign, targeting matchmaking improvements after initial connectivity issues.
Following launch weekend reports of multiplayer problems, developers recommended troubleshooting steps like restarting matchmaking sessions and verifying NAT type settings on PlayStation consoles.
The June 6 maintenance specifically aimed to enhance expedition matchmaking with active Remembrance items, with online services now fully restored for smoother co-op experiences.
"We appreciate your patience, Nightfarers," FromSoftware announced. "Limveld stands ready for your return."
Despite network challenges, Nightreign sold 3.5 million copies in its first five days, though this falls short of Elden Ring's 30 million lifetime sales since 2022. For comparison, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion reached 5 million sales within 72 hours of its 2024 launch.
Player sentiment on Steam has shifted from 'Mixed' to 'Mostly Positive' following quality-of-life updates addressing core complaints about unforgiving solo mechanics, missing duo co-op, and outdated systems.
Monday's patch significantly streamlined single-player difficulty, with developers confirming an upcoming Duos mode implementation.
