Final Fantasy 9 25th Anniversary Website: Latest Updates
Fresh Character Profiles Unveiled

Speculation about a Final Fantasy 9 remake is surging again following Square Enix's latest additions to the game's 25th-anniversary site. New profiles for beloved characters Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner have been posted, leading many fans to interpret this as a hint of an upcoming remake.
Square Enix launched the anniversary website earlier this year, which initially sparked rumors about a potential remake. The speculation intensified weeks later when the company shared a memorable quote from the iconic black mage, Vivi, on Twitter.

The most recent update features small icons for four of the eight main party members on the site. Clicking each icon reveals a brief character description accompanied by new artwork from Final Fantasy 9's character designer, Toshiyuki Itahana, known for his work on the Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo series. These profiles summarize the character's role and motivations within the story.
While nothing is officially confirmed, the significant effort Square Enix has invested in this anniversary celebration has fans eagerly anticipating a major announcement for the title. For now, enthusiasts must wait for any further news regarding a potential remake.
Anniversary Merchandise Now Available

In addition to the website updates, Square Enix has expanded its 25th-anniversary merchandise lineup. New items include a replica of Garnet's necklace, a wearable version of Vivi's hat, a set of acrylic standees, and more.
Garnet's Silver Necklace is now available for pre-order, with an expected release date of November 15. The necklace is priced at approximately 38,500 yen (around $260). Meanwhile, reservations are open for an authentic, wearable replica of Vivi's hat, scheduled for release on September 6 and costing about 17,600 yen (roughly $120).

Another notable release is the Final Fantasy 9 Acrylic Stand Collection, which includes eight different designs. The set is sold as blind boxes, meaning fans won't know which design they've received until opening the package.
With all these preparations and new merchandise, a Final Fantasy 9 remake feels increasingly likely. Despite Square Enix remaining silent on the matter, fans continue to hold out hope that their cherished journey through Gaia will be reborn.
