Uncover the Secrets of Diablo 4's Forgotten Altars and Lost Powers
The Season of the Maelstrom in Diablo 4 introduces powerful Witchcraft abilities, categorized as Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay. Unlocking these requires favor with The Coven, earned through completing quests and gathering Restless Rot. This allows you to upgrade Altars near the Tree of Whispers. However, a more elusive type of Altar exists: the Forgotten Altars.
These enigmatic structures, unlike their main Altar counterparts, spawn randomly within Sanctuary's dungeons. This necessitates exploration and dungeon grinding, but the rewards—powerful Lost Powers—are well worth the effort. Since the seasonal questline already involves dungeon delving, the additional search may be minimal.
The Potent Lost Powers
Finding all Forgotten Altars unlocks a range of potent Lost Powers:
| Power Name | Effect |
|---|---|
| Breath of the Coven | Applying a Crowd Control or damage effect with any Witchcraft Effect boosts Attack Speed by X for 10 seconds, stacking per unique effect (Eldritch, Psyche, Growth & Decay). At Rank 8: 40% Lucky Hit chance with all active. |
| Hex Specialization | Increases Hex Effect potency by X. At Rank 10: 10% increased Critical Strike Chance against Hexed foes. |
| Aura Specialization | Increases Aura Effect size by X. At Rank 10: 50% increased Critical Strike Damage against enemies within Aura Effects. |
| Piranhado | When an enemy is Hexed and affected by an Aura, summons Piranhado, dealing X Physical damage over 12 seconds. Occurs every 20 seconds. At Rank 5: Piranhado seeks nearby enemies. |
Remember, once acquired, these Witchcraft Powers can be upgraded using Restless Rot from your inventory. Complete quests diligently to maximize your Rot supply.
