If you're in the market for a budget-friendly graphics card optimized for 1080p gaming, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti stands out as an excellent choice. For the best performance, opt for the 16GB variant instead of the 8GB model. Currently, you can find the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at both Amazon and Walmart starting at $489.99. While this price is higher than the original launch price of $429.99 for a reference model, it's still a more reasonable markup compared to other RTX 50 series cards.

The RTX 5060 Ti is a powerhouse for 1080p gaming, offering a significant performance boost of about 20% over the RTX 4060 Ti and around 40% over the RTX 3060 Ti. Its performance is further enhanced in games that support DLSS 4, a feature common to the Blackwell series.
If you're sticking to 1080p gaming, spending an extra $120-$130 on the RTX 5070, which starts at $609.99, might not be worth it unless you're chasing ultra-high frame rates. Always ensure you select a model with 16GB of VRAM, as the 8GB models, while cheaper, will bottleneck the GPU's performance in newer, more demanding games, especially at higher resolutions like 1440p.
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is a stellar choice for 1080p gaming, even when compared to its last-generation counterpart. It handles most games at max settings at this resolution, and for those where it struggles, like Assassins Creed Shadows, you can simply dial back the ray tracing for better performance. However, there's a significant caveat: the 8GB version. While the 16GB version is highly recommended, especially if you're upgrading from something older than the 3060 Ti, the 8GB version will face challenges as games become more demanding. It's unfortunate that both versions share the same name, as it can make shopping for a 1080p graphics card quite confusing."

For those eyeing higher resolutions like 1440p, stepping up to the GeForce RTX 5070 GPU is advisable. Amazon offers the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Windforce OC 12GB Graphics Card exclusively for Amazon Prime members at $609.99, complete with free shipping and a voucher for the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages game.
The RTX 5070's performance is on par with the RTX 4070 Super from the previous generation. While we hoped for a more substantial generational leap, the RTX 4070 Super was already a top performer for 1440p gaming, with a launch price of $599.99, only $10 less than this Gigabyte 5070 model. Moreover, finding an RTX 4070 Super at this price is nearly impossible now. The RTX 5070 not only looks and performs better in games that support DLSS 4 and multi-frame generation but is also more future-proof, promising improvements with driver optimizations.
