The latest GTA 6 trailer has arrived, and for those who may have missed it, we’ve unpacked all the hidden secrets and details right here. But here’s the catch – we’ll have to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason’s full story. So while we’re waiting, why not reminisce about the incredible Rockstar games we’ve played over the years and rank them just for fun?
Since its founding in 1998, Rockstar has created and launched more than 30 games, delivering iconic franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one reigns supreme? Just to be clear, titles like L.A. Noire and Max Payne 2 won’t appear here—we’re sticking only to games developed by Rockstar, not those they published. I took a shot at ranking them using one of IGN's Tier Lists, purely based on my own personal enjoyment through the years. Check out my full tier ranking here:

Red Dead Redemption 2 is hands down my all-time favorite game, so putting it in S-tier was a no-brainer. It’s joined (perhaps unsurprisingly) by its predecessor and Grand Theft Auto V—two landmark titles that pioneered the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special place in my heart for Max Payne 3 and its balletic bullet-time action, as well as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (which I probably played way too young). At the very bottom in D-tier, you’ll find odd entries like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—games that honestly, nobody in their right mind is itching to play.
Don’t see eye to eye with my picks? Do you believe Vice City outshines GTA IV? Well, why not build your own Rockstar games tier list right here? You can compare your S, A, B, C, and D rankings with the entire IGN community below.
So far, we've only had two official trailers—but when everything’s said and done, where do you think GTA 6 will ultimately rank? Share your predictions in the comments, and tell us why you ordered your tier list the way you did.
