The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has fans buzzing with excitement, showcasing the vibrant world of next-gen Vice City and introducing its diverse cast of characters. Dive into the details about the game's protagonists and the colorful inhabitants of Vice City's sunny streets.
Following the announcement of a delay in its highly anticipated release, Rockstar Games released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on May 6. This trailer dives deeper into the next-gen Vice City and its residents, giving fans more insight into the game's dual protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Their backgrounds and motivations are detailed on the official GTA 6 website, setting the stage for their adventures in the bustling city.
The story synopsis teases, "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."
Jason Duval, a former soldier, is trying to escape his troubled past but finds himself entangled with local drug runners in Leonida Keys. His meeting with Lucia could be his turning point, for better or worse.
Lucia Caminos, on the other hand, learned to fight from her father at a young age. Her rough upbringing led her to Leonida Penitentiary, but upon release, she's determined to make smart moves to provide a better life for her mother, whom she hopes to reunite with in Liberty City. A life with Jason might just be her ticket to a brighter future.
Beyond Jason and Lucia, Rockstar Games introduces a range of intriguing characters that populate Vice City. Jason's friend, Cal Hampton, is a conspiracy theorist whose casual paranoia doesn't stop him from aiding Jason in his plans. Boobie Ike, a local legend, has turned his street life into a legitimate empire, owning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio, hinting at the game's exploration of the music industry with characters like Dre’Quan and the duo Real Dimez.
The criminal underbelly of Vice City is represented by characters like Raul Bautista, a seasoned bank robber, and Brian Heder, a veteran drug runner who lets Jason live rent-free in exchange for help with local shakedowns. These characters add depth to the diverse cast that inhabits the sunny side of Vice City.
Vice City, inspired by Miami, embodies "the glamour, hustle, and greed of America." First seen in 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and later in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in 2006, the city returns with new locations such as the tropical Leonida Keys, the vast Grassrivers, the forgotten coast of Port Gellhorn, the heart of Leonida in Ambrosia, and the national landmark Mount Kalaga.
Rockstar Games also released new screenshots that showcase the game's high-quality visuals and attention to detail, building anticipation for what many hope will be the best GTA game yet. Despite the delay, these recent reveals keep fans eagerly awaiting the release of Grand Theft Auto VI on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
