MiHoYo has recently teased an exciting new addition to their Honkai series, sparking speculation that it may be a Pokémon-like experience. This revelation came during the Honkai Star Rail Concert livestream on May 4, 2025, where a 20-second teaser showcased Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd and Blade from Honkai: Star Rail commanding creatures and monsters in battle. This glimpse into the game suggests a gameplay style that could involve battling with monsters, possibly incorporating auto-chess strategy or monster-collecting mechanics.
The concept isn't entirely new for MiHoYo, as both Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail have featured creatures and critters that have captured fans' hearts. For instance, Genshin Impact introduced a monster-capturing mechanic within the Serenitea Pot, their player housing system, and held an event called "Fabulous Fungus Frenzy" where players could capture Fungus and compete in a beast tamer tournament. Similarly, Honkai Star Rail's "Aetherium Wars" event used the game’s turn-based mechanics with monsters as partners, echoing Pokémon’s core concept.
The teaser also hinted at the inclusion of numerous characters from across the Honkai series, ending with silhouettes of familiar characters, possibly including Aventurine from Star Rail. While fans are hopeful for the inclusion of Genshin Impact characters as well, the trailer primarily suggests that characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail will be featured.
Is this Honkai Nexus Anima?
Speculation is rife that this could be the rumored Honkai Nexus Anima, a game for which MiHoYo recently filed a trademark. Although the trademark filing itself didn't reveal much, the timing and nature of the teaser have fueled fan theories. Moreover, previous job listings from HoYoVerse, as reported by Enduins Gaming in September 2024, mentioned roles such as "Character Concept Art (Anthropomorphic Animals)" for a chibi-style life simulation and "Scene Concept Art – Honkai IP Pre-research" for fantasy spirit companions, which seem to align with the teased game's theme.
While fans eagerly connect the dots, no official confirmation has been made that the teased game is indeed Honkai Nexus Anima. The teaser leaves many questions unanswered, but one thing is certain: MiHoYo's dedicated fanbase has something exciting to look forward to. Given the company's track record of innovative and engaging games, expectations are high for this new addition to the Honkai universe.
