The HP Omen Transcend 32" 4K QD OLED gaming monitor, announced at CES 2024 and released in December, marks a significant advancement in gaming display technology. After a long wait, HP introduced this monitor with unique features that distinguish it from its competitors, making it a top contender for the best 4K gaming monitor.
Originally priced at $1,299.99, now available for $899.99 at Best Buy, this monitor leverages Samsung's QD OLED panel technology. It offers superior brightness compared to traditional OLED panels, while maintaining an almost infinite response time, contrast ratio, and exceptional black levels. Certified with HDR True Black 400 and boasting a 99.3% DCI-P3 color range, it's factory-calibrated for optimal performance. Gamers will appreciate the fast 240Hz refresh rate and G-Sync certification. Additionally, the monitor features built-in speakers tuned by HyperX for an enhanced gaming and entertainment experience.
In terms of connectivity, the Omen Transcend is equipped with HDMI 2.1 and the latest DisplayPort 2.1 standard, ideal for compatibility with upcoming GeForce 5000 series GPUs. It also includes a USB Type-C port with 140W Power Delivery and support for DisplayPort alternate mode, allowing for a single-cable connection to your laptop.
However, the high 4K resolution demands a powerful GPU. To enjoy games at 4K with up to 240fps, you'll need at least an GeForce RTX 4070. For even better performance, consider GPUs like the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4090, or RX 7900XTX. HP supports this monitor with a comprehensive three-year warranty.
Priced at $1,199.99 and now on sale for $899.99 at Alienware, the AW3225QF is a strong competitor, available since early 2024. It shares many specifications with the HP Omen Transcend but offers a superior warranty with burn-in protection. As a user and advocate of this monitor, I can attest to its high-end gaming capabilities, especially at the discounted price of $899.99 after a $300 savings.
While the HP Omen Transcend boasts newer features, the Alienware AW3225QF stands out with its extended warranty and proven performance.
