According to Lead Writer Nate Dern in an interview with the PlayStation Blog, the Open Alpha will feature crossplay and introduce players to a thrilling new 24-player mode called Multi-Team Portal Warfare. In this mode, three teams of eight will battle it out on *Splitgate*’s largest map yet, experimenting with new weapons, perks, and equipment amidst the game's signature fast-paced action.
The original *Splitgate* was adored for its innovative portal mechanics, allowing players to pull off mind-blowing outplays and trickshots by creating rifts and emerging from portals. The sequel promises to keep these beloved mechanics at its core, with new classes and factions introducing unique abilities. Dern emphasized that the game's foundation has been shaped by both internal and external feedback to offer a defining experience in the FPS genre.
And there you have it—that's how you can join the *Splitgate 2* Open Alpha test. Mark your calendars for February 27, 2025, when the Open Alpha launches for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
