Set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the film explores a world where dinosaurs struggle to survive outside isolated equatorial environments that mimic their ancient habitats. The story revolves around three colossal creatures—land, sea, and air dwellers—whose DNA holds the potential for a revolutionary life-saving drug for humanity.
Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert tasked with leading a team on a clandestine mission to extract crucial genetic material. Their plans are disrupted when they encounter a civilian family whose boat was capsized by aggressive aquatic dinosaurs. Stranded on a forbidden island once used for secretive Jurassic Park research, they navigate a landscape teeming with diverse dinosaur species and uncover a sinister secret that has been concealed for decades.
The final trailer showcases several highlights, including a river raft scene inspired by Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park novel. David Koepp, reimmersing himself in the source material, decided to incorporate a sequence from the original novel that was omitted from the 1993 film. "There was a sequence from the first novel that we’d always wanted in the original movie, but didn’t have room for," Koepp explained. "We were like, ‘Hey, we get to use that now.’"
The trailer also introduces new dinosaur species, such as the 'D-Rex,' officially named Distortus Rex. This mutant dinosaur, unique to Jurassic World Rebirth, combines features of a T-Rex and a Rancor from Star Wars. "It’s kind of like if the T-Rex was designed by H.R. Giger, and then that whole thing had sex with a Rancor," director Gareth Edwards described to Empire.
Additionally, viewers get a closer look at winged Mutadons, described by Koepp as "a combination of a pterosaur and a Raptor."
