Konami Announces a Suikoden Game for Mobile Called Suikoden STAR LEAP
Mar 21,2025Author: Connor
Suikoden is back! Well, sort of. Konami and MYTHRIL have announced Suikoden STAR LEAP, a new mobile RPG for Android and iOS, slated for release later this year. The free-to-play title marks a return for the beloved series, originally launched in 1995.
For the uninitiated, Suikoden, created by Yoshitaka Murayama and inspired by the classical Chinese novel Water Margin, is a renowned RPG series known for its intricate political narratives, True Runes, and the iconic 108 Stars of Destiny. Eleven entries, including spin-offs, have graced the gaming world since 1995, with the last main installment released in 2012. Now, instead of a direct sequel, Konami offers Suikoden STAR LEAP as a mobile gaming experience.
What Awaits in Suikoden STAR LEAP?
Suikoden STAR LEAP introduces a fresh cast of characters while retaining the series' signature gathering of 108 heroes. The game boasts pixel art, preserving the classic Suikoden aesthetic. Take a look:
The story centers on the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes shaping the world. The protagonist, Hou, son of a village chief, embarks on a journey with Hisui (his servant), Shirin (his childhood friend), and Shapur (a former general) after a devastating attack on his village. Their quest: to restore peace.
While excitement abounds, some community members express reservations. Longtime fans eagerly awaited a proper sequel, and the gacha-style STAR LEAP might not fully satisfy those expectations.
Further details will emerge closer to the game's launch. Visit the official website for the latest updates.
