No Man's Sky shines as a solo experience, but the fun truly multiplies with friends. However, encountering the Version Mismatch error can disrupt your multiplayer adventures. This guide outlines how to resolve this issue.
The Version Mismatch error in No Man's Sky arises when attempting a multiplayer session with friends using different platforms or differing game versions. For example, if one player on Steam has the latest update, but another player on PS5 hasn't updated, the error will appear. This can also occur even when playing on the same platform if versions are mismatched.
The solution is straightforward: ensure all players have the latest game update installed. Once everyone is running the same version, cross-play multiplayer should function correctly.
However, update rollouts can be staggered across platforms. Even with the most recent update for your platform, you might still encounter the error if a newer update has been released but hasn't yet reached your platform. In this scenario, patience is key. Wait for the update to deploy to your platform, update your game, and then retry the multiplayer session.
This concludes the troubleshooting guide for the Version Mismatch error in No Man's Sky. For more gaming tips and insights, check out The Escapist.
