If you grew up in the 80s, 90s or early 2000s, Mattel toys likely filled your childhood. Now, this legendary toy company is bringing its iconic brands to mobile gaming with Mattel Match: Toybox Unlocked - a vibrant match-three experience packed with nostalgic charm.
The game promises to blend satisfying puzzle mechanics with the warm familiarity of classic toys. While some might hope for deeper action adventure gameplay, there's undeniable appeal in seeing childhood favorites reinvented for mobile gameplay.
Mattel Match will begin its testing phase in the Philippines and Canada, with a full global release expected by late 2025. The match-three genre is already crowded with excellent options, so the game will need to offer more than just brand recognition to stand out.
The nostalgia factor could be its strongest card - especially for players who grew up stacking UNO cards, styling Barbie dolls, or battling with He-Man figures. But will that be enough to compete with today's top puzzle games? We'll find out soon enough.
