Neil Druckmann Says 'Don't Bet on' There Being a The Last of Us Part 3

For those eagerly awaiting news of The Last of Us Part 3, renowned series creator Neil Druckmann has delivered a disheartening update. In a recent interview with Variety, primarily focused on the TV series adaptation, Druckmann effectively dashed hopes of a third installment. When questioned about the possibility, he sighed and stated, "I was waiting for this question. I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it."
While Druckmann's statement is definitive, some may remain skeptical. Naughty Dog is currently deeply involved in the development of *Intergalactic*, unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, with no release date yet announced. This significant project likely occupies the studio's resources for years to come, making a *Last of Us Part 3* improbable in the near future. It's possible Druckmann is being strategically vague, or perhaps simply unwilling to commit at this time. Future circumstances could alter this perspective, or perhaps the story is truly concluded.
However, fans still have much to anticipate. The second season of the acclaimed Last of Us television series premieres April 13th on Max. While Druckmann expresses uncertainty regarding the total number of seasons, an HBO executive previously suggested a four-season run might be the ideal conclusion.
