May 12,2025 Author: Emily

The anticipation surrounding Nintendo's long-rumored Nintendo Switch upgrade has finally come to an end, and the revealed specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2 are nothing short of impressive. The system supports up to 120fps and can reach a stunning 4K resolution when docked, surpassing many expectations.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several key features of the new console. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, yet maintains the same thickness of 13.9mm. With approximately double the pixels, it supports a crisp 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD that also supports HDR, and when docked, the system can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection system and can be detached by pressing a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing gameplay when the console is held horizontally. Additionally, both the left and right analog sticks have been increased in size. A notable reveal during this segment was the introduction of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with advanced noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also comes with a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for various height settings. A top USB port provides options for external camera connectivity and charging the system in tabletop mode.

Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 is equipped with 256GB of internal storage, offering ample space for games and applications.
