Nintendo announced the official retail price for its next-generation console during today's Switch 2 Direct presentation - $449.99.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5, 2025, with preorders opening April 9 following today's full hardware reveal.
"Switch 2 represents the evolution of home console gaming with portability, building on eight years of innovation that began with the original Switch," said Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa. "With groundbreaking new features that redefine gaming experiences, I'm confident Switch 2 will continue our mission of bringing joy to players worldwide."
The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle retails for $499.99 (US), including the system plus a digital download code for Mario Kart World available at launch on June 5. Purchasing the bundle represents a $30 savings compared to buying the game separately ($79.99 SRP).
While new console pricing always generates interest, the Switch 2's cost has been particularly debated due to current economic conditions. As industry experts noted in January, factors like supply chain challenges and potential tariff impacts may have influenced Nintendo's pricing strategy. Nevertheless, analysts predict strong launch sales regardless of price point.
