Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, intensifying its ties to the Superman universe by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a dismissive interview with John Cena's Peacemaker for a potential superhero team. The interview doesn't go smoothly, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out.
This trailer provides fresh glimpses of these key supporting characters, who are also set to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie. The integration of these characters highlights the interconnected nature of the new DCU.

Peacemaker Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11. This marks the third entry in the DCU, with the Creature Commandos TV series having launched the universe late last year.
James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU away from the criticized DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the DCEU will carry over into the new DCU. Peacemaker exemplifies this transition, as Season 1 was part of the DCEU, while Season 2 joins the new DCU.
Gunn has stated that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though specifics on what will transfer from the DCEU to the DCU remain undisclosed. He has confirmed the return of the entire Team Peacemaker with the same actors, including John Cena reprising his role as Peacemaker, alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.
Moreover, Gunn has mentioned that Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the events of the latter even affecting Peacemaker. This continuity promises an engaging and interconnected narrative within the DCU.
