PlatinumGames is commemorating the 15th anniversary of the original Bayonetta with a year-long celebration, expressing gratitude to fans for their enduring support. The original game, released in 2009 (Japan) and 2010 (globally), garnered critical acclaim for its innovative design and exhilarating gameplay, propelling the series to continued success, primarily on Nintendo platforms.

The stylish action title, helmed by Hideki Kamiya, introduced players to Bayonetta, a formidable Umbra Witch wielding guns, impressive martial arts, and magically enhanced hair to battle supernatural foes. Its unique premise and fast-paced combat, reminiscent of Devil May Cry, quickly established Bayonetta as a leading female video game anti-hero.
