Pokémon Go unveils new details for Go Fest 2025 and celebrates nine years since launch

Pokémon Go is preparing to mark its ninth anniversary since launch while revealing fresh details about Go Fest 2025.

Niantic’s impact is evident when players often describe the release of Pokémon Go as achieving 'world peace' or something similar. After nine years since launch, we all—whether young or old—still recall those groundbreaking moments when they brought Pokémon into our real world (sort of).

Now, nearly a decade later, Pokémon Go is gearing up to celebrate its ninth anniversary with flair through a brand-new event. From July 1st to July 6th, you can encounter new costumed Pokémon: Ivysaur and Venusaur will sport stylish party hats, while Gimmighoul appears holding an enticing 9th-anniversary coin.

The ninth-anniversary celebrations also include a host of bonuses to encourage exploration. These features boost your chances of becoming Lucky Friends or encountering Lucky Pokémon, plus increase the likelihood of PokeStops turning gold without needing the Golden Lure Module, among other perks.

Beyond the ninth anniversary, there’s plenty to anticipate regarding details for the upcoming Go Fest 2025. Scheduled from July 28th to 29th, you can join for free or upgrade with an event ticket.

Whether paid or free, there is much to enjoy as different rosters of themed Pokémon appear on both Saturday and Sunday alongside additional bonuses. Special avatar items will also be accessible via the Go Pass and the in-game event shop during this steampunk-themed festival.
