Get ready, Pokémon trainers! Another challenging 7-Star Tera Raid is on the horizon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, this time featuring the fiery Water/Fighting-type starter, Quaquaval. This isn't your average Tera Raid; it's a tough battle requiring strategic preparation. Let's dive into the best counters to conquer this aquatic adversary.
To succeed in a 7-Star Raid, understanding Quaquaval's type matchups is crucial. As a Water/Fighting type with a Water Tera type, Quaquaval is weak to Electric, Grass, Fairy, Flying, and Psychic-type moves. Electric and Grass-type attacks will be particularly effective. Conversely, Quaquaval resists Water, Fire, Ice, Dark, Rock, Bug, and Steel-type moves.
Quaquaval's moveset in this 7-Star Raid presents a significant challenge. Expect Aqua Step (Water), Brave Bird (Flying), Close Combat (Fighting), Feather Dance (Flying), Ice Spinner (Ice), and Mega Kick (Fighting). The inclusion of Flying-type moves adds complexity, while Ice Spinner's 100% accuracy and terrain removal significantly impacts strategy. Feather Dance's Attack stat reduction further complicates matters. Quaquaval also boasts the Moxie ability, boosting its Attack after a knockout, making solo attempts even more difficult.
To overcome Quaquaval's formidable abilities, we recommend these top counters: Eelektross, Miraidon, and Serperior. These Pokémon offer a potent combination of type advantages and strategic utility.
Eelektross's Levitate ability grants immunity to Ground-type moves, a bonus against Quaquaval's potential moves. A Modest nature, Electric Tera type, Shell Bell, and this moveset are recommended: Acid Spray, Discharge, Gastro Acid, Sunny Day. Discharge's paralysis chance is key, while Sunny Day weakens Water-type attacks. Gastro Acid neutralizes Moxie.
Miraidon excels at countering Moxie. While not ideal solo, in a team, Miraidon's Electric Terrain and Electric Drive are devastating. A Modest nature, Electric Tera type, Shell Bell, and this moveset are recommended: Electric Drive, Electric Terrain, Metal Sound, Calm Mind.
Serperior's Contrary ability turns stat-lowering moves against Quaquaval. A Modest nature, Grass Tera type, Light Clay (for Reflect), and this moveset are recommended: Gastro Acid, Giga Drain, Leaf Storm, Reflect. Reflect negates Ice Spinner's impact.
Access to 7-Star Raids requires completing the Academy Ace Tournament post-game. The Quaquaval Tera Raid runs from March 14th, 7 PM EST, to March 20th, 6:59 PM EST.
