Pokémon Go developer Niantic has been acquired by Scopely, the creators of Monopoly Go, in a staggering $3.5 billion deal. This acquisition brings Niantic's popular game portfolio—including Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and Peridot—under Scopely's umbrella.
This is significant news for Pokémon Go fans and the mobile gaming industry as a whole. The acquisition includes Niantic's branded games, while its augmented reality (AR) technology division will operate independently as Niantic Spatial. Niantic Spatial will retain Ingress Prime and Peridot. For players, minimal service disruption is anticipated.

Given the success of Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now, alongside the continued dominance of Pokémon Go, service disruptions seem unlikely. However, the long-term effects on the mobile gaming landscape remain to be seen. This could be a pivotal moment.
