Rockstar Games Announces GTA 6 Trailer 2 Smashes All-Time Viewership Records
The developer confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Trailer 2 amassed an unprecedented 475 million views across all platforms within its first 24 hours. This monumental figure surpasses all major Hollywood trailer debuts, including Deadpool & Wolverine's 365 million views and The Fantastic Four: First Steps' 200 million. Even last year's record-breaking Superman trailer, which garnered over 250 million views, now sits in second place behind Rockstar's latest reveal.
It's important to highlight that GTA 6's first trailer, which originally launched exclusively on YouTube with 93 million first-day views, previously held the title for largest non-music video debut. At publication time (May 8), Trailer 2 has accumulated 85,276,196 views on Rockstar's official YouTube channel alone.
IGN previously reported the staggering viral impact on The Pointer Sisters' Hot Together following its feature in GTA 6 Trailer 2. Spotify streaming data revealed a jaw-dropping 182,000% increase in global plays for the 1986 hit within just two hours of the trailer's release.
"Grand Theft Auto transcends entertainment norms unlike almost anything else," stated Spotify's Global Head of Editorial Sulinna Ong. "Music has been integral to the franchise since its inception, making it incredibly rewarding to witness both new and longtime fans rediscovering this classic track."
The trailer's launch follows Rockstar's announcement delaying GTA 6's release from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. Industry analysts predict the game will establish new financial benchmarks across all entertainment sectors, surpassing previous records held by both gaming and film industries.
