Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB PS5 SSD for $129.99
$184.99 $129.99 at Amazon (Save 30%)
The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a fantastic drive for both your gaming PC and PS5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements, boasting sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and 6,300 MB/s respectively. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the standard 990 Evo. The key difference? This is a DRAM-less drive. For PS5 gaming, this makes absolutely no difference. On PCs, it utilizes HMB (host memory buffer), cleverly using a negligible amount of your system RAM—gamers won't notice any performance impact.
This SSD doesn't come with a pre-installed heatsink. However, its newer single-sided design is energy-efficient and generates minimal heat. This means a heatsink is likely unnecessary, even in a PS5. However, adding one for extra peace of mind is perfectly acceptable (though it will cost you an extra $7).
