"I'm just as excited as you are," Tropper revealed exclusively to Screen Rant. "The wait might be shorter than anticipated."
Details about the film remain scarce. What we do know is that the story unfolds after The Rise of Skywalker events. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy clarified the timeline position during a Deadline interview: "Shawn's standalone story takes place approximately five to six years after Episode IX," she said in February. This positions Levy's project as the first cinematic exploration of the post-Sequel Trilogy era.
Kennedy confirmed the film's release will follow 2026's The Mandalorian and Grogu feature. "We're currently focused on the Mandalorian movie before moving to Shawn's production," she explained. Another intriguing detail? Reports indicate Ryan Gosling may take on a leading role.
Tropper's recent comments suggest the project may finally be gaining momentum. However, fans should prepare for patience - the earliest possible release window appears to be late 2026, possibly stretching into 2027.
