EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with a delightful surprise for fans. Today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are once again available on PC, thanks to the launch of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. These collections can be purchased separately or as part of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, priced at $40.
Each Legacy Collection comes packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing just one item, the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but otherwise, you'll find everything you loved about these classics. Additionally, The Sims 1 includes a special Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 offers a Grunge Revival Kit alongside the other add-ons.
This re-release marks the first time in over a decade that these beloved games have been easily accessible. Previously, The Sims 1 was only available on disc, making it a challenge to play on modern Windows systems without a physical copy. Meanwhile, The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 as an Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but that was discontinued. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are readily purchasable and playable through digital storefronts, simplifying access for fans old and new.
Upon their initial release, we awarded The Sims 1 a stellar 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an impressive 8.5/10. While the series has evolved with numerous new features and improvements, the original games remain noteworthy for their charm, simplicity, unique challenges, and enduring legacy.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are available now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app, making it easier than ever to revisit these timeless classics.
