Sonic the Hedgehog is revving up for its 35th anniversary in 2026, and Sega is already rolling out the festivities. A recent Amazon listing has unveiled pre-orders for the Sonic the Hedgehog 35th Anniversary 2026 Wall Calendar, complete with a bonus of 4 notecards. This collector's item is a must-have for any Sonic fan, featuring exclusive artwork and a special 35th anniversary logo.
The calendar takes fans on a nostalgic journey through Sonic's history, showcasing original game art from Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) all the way to Sonic Frontiers (2022). The description promises a 12-month adventure, perfect for both new and longtime fans, with the iconic slogan, "Gotta go fast!" The included notecards, featuring Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, and Tails, are not just for writing; they transform into 3D self-standing figures, adding a fun, interactive element to the package. Pre-orders are open now, with shipping scheduled to start on August 19, 2025.
In other news, the Sonic franchise is accelerating towards the launch of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, slated for 2025. This release coincides with Nintendo's announcement of Mario Kart World, set to debut alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Sega playfully engaged with this news via a tweet on April 3, saying, "Big day for worldly racing games!", before asserting that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds would be the "ONLY upcoming kart racer you can play with your friends." This friendly rivalry between Sega and Nintendo adds an extra layer of excitement to the kart racing genre.
The competition between Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Mario Kart World is set to make 2025 a thrilling year for kart racing enthusiasts. While CrossWorlds will be available across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, Mario Kart World aims to leverage the new features of the Switch 2. Ultimately, fans stand to gain the most from these high-quality, enjoyable titles. Although a specific release date for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has not been announced, the anticipation is building.
