Sony PlayStation's State of Play Scheduled for Next Week

Sony is gearing up to host its anticipated February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week, according to reliable leaker NateTheHate, who previously predicted the date of Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal. The event is rumored to take place during Valentine’s Day week, from February 10 to 14.

Speculation is rife about what Sony might unveil at this year’s State of Play. With a lineup of first-party titles slated for release in 2025, fans are eagerly awaiting updates on several high-profile projects. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, with its 2025 release window, could offer new gameplay footage and a solid release date. Bungie's PvP extraction shooter Marathon might be showcased, especially if playtesting is planned for later this year. Haven Studios' debut title Fairgames, Naughty Dog's new IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are also on the radar. A fresh trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, set for a 2025 release, seems highly probable.

However, don't expect to see any of Sony's recently canceled live service games. Last month, Sony pulled the plug on two unannounced titles from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, the latter being a live-service God of War game. While Bend Studio’s project remains a mystery, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon game reportedly survived the cuts, potentially setting the stage for its reveal.

Turning to third-party announcements, Hideo Kojima's Physint, an upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, might be too early for a reveal. However, Phantom Blade Zero, the action RPG from Chinese studio S-Game, seems a more likely candidate.

Microsoft, now a notable publisher on PlayStation, could also make an appearance. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is expected to launch on PS5 soon, possibly with a release date announcement. There's even speculation about Microsoft using the State of Play to announce Halo coming to PlayStation.

Looking back at last year's State of Play can provide some insight into what to expect. The event featured titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine’s Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
