Some of my fondest childhood memories revolve around playing cooperative games with friends during summer vacations. As an adult, summers just don't feel the same anymore - whether it's the pressures of adulthood or simply the scarcity of great couch co-op games these days. But occasionally, a special title comes along that recaptures that magical feeling of pure gaming joy.
Split Fiction, the highly anticipated follow-up from It Takes Two creator Hazelight Studios, released earlier this year with another incredible co-op adventure designed exclusively for two players. Despite launching just months ago, you can already grab the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions for only $35 during Prime Day. But act fast - this deal expires at midnight PT tonight.

Following It Takes Two's success as one of the greatest co-op games ever made (winner of Game of the Year at 2021's Game Awards), Split Fiction proves to be another masterpiece in the making.
Like its predecessor, Split Fiction offers a perfectly crafted split-screen experience for two players - playable either locally or online. It even includes a Friend Pass system allowing you and a partner to play together with just one purchased copy.
The game delivers countless unforgettable moments, requiring tight coordination between partners as you alternate between sci-fi and fantasy realms to solve creative puzzles. Our review awarded it a 9/10, praising: "Split Fiction has an incredible pull that makes stopping nearly impossible. Its ever-changing gameplay ensures constant freshness and excitement." Unsurprisingly, it's already secured a spot on our Best Games of 2025 list.

While sharing similar DNA with its predecessor, Split Fiction stands completely on its own with a fresh story and characters. You can absolutely jump straight in without having played It Takes Two - though series veterans will appreciate numerous clever references and callbacks.
