Aspyr has just announced that the lovable (or, depending on your perspective, intensely annoying) Jar Jar Binks will be a playable character in the upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles. While the original 2000 release featured a roster of iconic characters, Jar Jar's inclusion is certainly a surprising twist for fans.
This updated version of Jedi Power Battles, aiming to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding new content, boasts features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support. But the real excitement lies in the expanded roster of playable characters, with Jar Jar Binks being the latest addition.
A new trailer showcases Jar Jar in action, wielding a large staff instead of the (perhaps unrealistic) red lightsaber some fans might have hoped for. His signature chaotic charm and voice lines are also present, promising a uniquely Jar Jar experience. Jar Jar Binks will be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd, and pre-orders are available now.

Interestingly, Jar Jar isn't the only Gungan joining the fray, as the Gungan Guard will also be playable.
