Take-Two CEO Optimistic About Nintendo Switch 2

Apr 17,2026 Author: Noah

We're less than a month away from the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, and amid all the uncertainty surrounding pricing, tariffs, game key cards, and other concerns, one third-party publisher is feeling confident about the console: Take-Two Interactive.

In a Q&A with investors today following the company’s full-year earnings, CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed questions about the publisher’s support for the Nintendo Switch 2, expressing "great optimism" for Nintendo’s new platform. He noted that Nintendo’s approach to supporting third-party developers this time around has improved compared to the past:

"We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, and that’s I think a broader lineup of releases than we’ve ever offered on a new Nintendo platform. Historically, being a third party in the Nintendo ecosystem has been a bit challenging. I think Nintendo has been very open in addressing those issues. And we’re stepping up too, because we have great optimism for the platform. When it comes to what we bring to any platform, we evaluate each case individually—we clearly want to be where our players are. But we don’t necessarily bring every title to every platform. There are also strong opportunities within our catalog."

Specifically, Take-Two is bringing Civilization 7 (June 5, launch day), the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (exact titles and release dates still unclear), and Borderlands 4 (September 12). These announcements aren’t unexpected, since Take-Two already publishes all four franchises on the Nintendo Switch. But Zelnick’s comments suggest the door could open wider in the future to additional titles—particularly from Take-Two’s extensive back catalog. GTA 6 likely won’t be among them, but perhaps GTA V, down the line?

We spoke directly with Zelnick ahead of the investor call about the company’s latest quarter, including updates on GTA 6’s development timeline and his perspective on the game’s recent delay to next year.
