Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their freshly launched settlement builder game, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more thrilling dimension to the game's charming pixel-art world, bringing a host of new mechanics and features for players to explore.
Even though TownsFolk is a new release, the developers are not holding back on enriching the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update introduces new buildings and challenges that significantly alter the dynamics of the game. Players will now have to contend with roaming Barbarians, adding a layer of tension to both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Additionally, eight new structures have been added: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer, each offering unique functionalities to enhance your settlement.
The update also brings a splash of excitement to water tiles with the introduction of the rare Whale, adding a new element to explore. Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks further increase the game's unpredictability, encouraging players to delve deeper into the mysteries of their world.
To help players navigate this expanded universe, a new Compendium has been introduced, serving as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of all the new additions. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preference.
