Following closely after Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo unleashes another genre-bending musou experience today. Warriors: Abyss reinvents the formula as a roguelite adventure featuring beloved characters from the Warriors universe, available now across multiple platforms.
Debuted during PlayStation's State of Play event, this innovative title transforms the classic Warriors gameplay into an isometric roguelite experience. Drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Hades, players will battle through hellish landscapes against demonic foes with a customizable squad.
The cinematic reveal showcased familiar fan-favorites including Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sunshang Xiang taking on the forces of darkness in this bold new format.
According to PlayStation's official blog post, the game features an extensive character recruitment system. Players can gradually assemble their dream team, unlocking new summoning abilities in the process. The initial roster offers 100 playable warriors with seven active slots per battle.
Koei Tecmo has confirmed upcoming character additions, beginning with Dynasty Warriors' Jin faction. Developers hint at even more surprising crossovers, suggesting we might see faces from outside the Warriors universe in future updates.
Warriors: Abyss launches today on PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. Nintendo Switch owners can join the battle starting February 13, 2025. Early adopters who purchase before March 14 will receive an exclusive Dynasty Warriors Costume Set as bonus content.
