Witcher 3: Triss' Wedding Cut From Game

In The Witcher 3's "Ashen Marriage" quest, set in Novigrad, Geralt assists Triss Merigold and her fiancé, Count Castello, with wedding preparations. His tasks range from monster extermination in the canals to procuring alcohol and selecting a wedding gift for Triss. The gift choice impacts Triss's reaction; a memory rose, a callback to The Witcher 2, elicits a strong emotional response, while simpler gifts receive a less enthusiastic reception.

However, Dijkstra's revelation that Castello is connected to witch hunters throws a wrench into the proceedings. Castello is revealed to be acting under duress, blackmailed by the hunters who threaten to expose his illegitimate daughter from a previous marriage.

Geralt can choose to reveal this truth to Triss, either alone or with Castello. Regardless of the method, the wedding is called off. Triss is either disappointed in her fiancé's deception or appreciative of his honesty, but ultimately concludes the marriage was premature.

This plot twist offered a compelling opportunity to deepen Geralt and Triss's relationship and further develop supporting characters.
