Xbox Game Pass: A Must-Have for RPG Enthusiasts
May 27,2025Author: Leo
As a dedicated PC gamer who has long relied on Steam sales to keep my library fresh, I never felt the pull of Xbox Game Pass—until now. Yesterday's surprise drop of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass was a game-changer. This wasn't just a remaster; it was a borderline-remake, featuring new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and revamped VFX, while still retaining the charm of the original's quirky dialogue. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition, which includes the original DLCs, and $59.99 for the deluxe edition, it's a significant release. I spent the day downloading and the night immersed in its enchanting world and music.

But the excitement doesn't stop there. Tonight at 12am PST, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from French studio Sandfall Interactive hits Game Pass. This debut title, which draws inspiration from JRPG classics, has already garnered a 92 on Metacritic and a 9/10 from IGN for its compelling story and innovative turn-based combat system. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition, it's a steal on Game Pass.
While Expedition 33 was set to be the star of April’s Game Pass lineup, the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a shadow over its debut. However, from my perspective, having two exceptional games available at once is a win-win. Instead of shelling out $100 for both titles, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription, making the decision to dive back into gaming an easy one.
Plenty more of 2025's biggest games have recently made it onto the service, including *Blue Prince*, *South of Midnight*, and *Avowed*, joining mainstay classics like *GTA V* and the full suite of *Call of Duty*. There truly is something for everyone.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate, starting at $19.99/month, offers access to the entire Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. For PC-only gamers, the cost drops to $9.99/month with Game Pass for PC. The Standard and Core tiers, at $14.99/month and $9.99/month respectively, do not include day one releases. The last price increase was in July 2024, and with such high-profile game launches, another hike could be on the horizon this year.
While there are no current deals on Game Pass subscriptions, opting for a three-month subscription could shield you from potential future price increases. For quite some time now, the *Tekken* fanbase has been vocal about a rather unconventional yet oddly fitting request: the inclusion of a Waffle House stage in *Tekken 8*. While it may sound absurd at first, the idea has gained considerable traction within the community. Interestingly, *Tekken 8*’s d
