Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Bonus Amid Success

May 25,2025 Author: Max

The success story at Games Workshop, the creators of Warhammer 40,000, keeps rolling on, as the company has announced a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus for its staff. Based in Nottingham, UK, Games Workshop is behind the popular Warhammer tabletop games and their vast universes. For the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, the company reported a core revenue of £560 million, an increase from the previous period's £494.7 million. Licensing revenue also saw a significant boost, rising to £50 million from £31 million. The core profit reached £210 million, up from £174.8 million, and licensing profit soared to £45 million from £27 million, culminating in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, up from £203 million.

In appreciation of their staff's hard work contributing to these stellar results, Games Workshop has decided to distribute £20 million among its employees, an increase from last year's £18 million. With an estimated 1,500 staff members, this means each employee is looking at a bonus of £13,333 (approximately $18,000).

While the primary business of Games Workshop revolves around selling miniatures that fans assemble and paint for use in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000, the company is increasingly becoming a major player in the intellectual property (IP) arena. Significant revenue is now being generated from successful video games, such as last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animations, including Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Additionally, Games Workshop and Amazon finalized a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will bring films and television series to fans. Space Marine 3 is also in the works.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledged that the current period's record licensing revenue is unlikely to be repeated in the 2025/26 fiscal year, although licensing remains a key focus. With Warhammer 40,000 and the broader Warhammer franchise enjoying unprecedented popularity, the company shows no signs of slowing down.

Recently, Games Workshop hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, which featured several exciting announcements and trailers. Notable highlights include the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
